The College of Arts and Sciences鈥 pre-health advisors teamed up with in February to host a free suturing workshop for pre-health students hoping to gain some practical hands-on experience outside of the classroom.
As the only institution in Florida offering a podiatry program, the professionals from Barry provided students with exclusive insights into this specialized field. There, students learned the basics of suturing鈥攁n essential skill that they will take with them throughout their health careers.
Pre-health advisor Alina Thompson highlighted the workshop鈥檚 practical significance, emphasizing its role in offering a hands-on experience for students while also allowing them to network with professionals in a smaller field of study.
鈥淧odiatric medicine offers lots of great opportunities for students and the suture workshop was a great way for students to network with podiatrists and other pre-health students,鈥 she explained.
One of the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息Health Professions Advising Committee鈥檚 goals for 2024 is to increase partnerships like the one with Barry to help students meet admission recruiters and learn more about their intended health professions. The goal is to hold more interactive workshops to make them a regular part of the pre-health students鈥 curriculum.
