About Psi Chi

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of recognizing excellence in scholarship in psychology. Psi Chi chapters are located at more than 1,000 universities in the United States and Canada.

Students who wish to join Psi Chi must join the chapter at the school where they are enrolled, which automatically ensures lifetime membership in the International Organization of Psi Chi.

Undergraduate Students

Membership Requirements for Undergraduate Students

Membership Requirements for the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息Chapter are:

  • Declared Psychology Major or Psychology Minor at USF
  • Completed at least 9 credits in Psychology at USF
  • Completed at least 3 semesters of college coursework
  • Earned an All Attempts Major GPA of at least 3.4
  • Earned an Overall GPA of at least 3.45

Transfer students who were Psi Chi members at another institution should contact the Psi Chi faculty advisor at their 新澳门六合彩内幕信息campus to complete an existing member update.

Graduate Students

Membership Requirements for Graduate Students

Membership Requirements for the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息Chapter are:

  • Enrolled in a psychology or closely related graduate program at USF
  • Completed at least 9 credits of graduate Psychology courses at USF
  • Earned an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in all graduate courses including Psychology
  • Meets the graduate program's requirements for good standing (e.g., if specific courses require an A or B, students must meet those requirements even if their cumulative GPA is above 3.0)

How to Apply

UNDERGRADUATES: Please create a pdf of your Degreeworks (see instructions).

Send these documents as email attachments to the Psi Chi faculty advisor on your campus:
Tampa:  Dr. Sandra Schneider
Sarasota-Manatee: Dr. Valentina Iturriaga
St. Petersburg:  Dr. Kemesha Gabbidon

GRADUATE STUDENTS: Please email Dr. Sandra Schneider directly.

Applications will only be accepted between September and April. We will process applications as quickly as possible during the regular fall and spring semesters. Initiation ceremonies are typically held twice a year (at the end of fall and spring semesters). If you need to become a member officially before then (e.g., to apply for a scholarship or grant), please tell your faculty advisor at the time you submit your application materials.


Fee $75. This amount includes both 新澳门六合彩内幕信息Psi Chi membership dues and the lifetime membership fee for the International Organization. We will send information about fee payment once you have completed all other parts of the application process. If you wish to apply but the fee would be prohibitive, please reach out directly to the Psi Chi faculty advisor on your campus to discuss potential scholarship options.
