Hispanic Writers in the United States: V
We (The Spanish/Latino section of WLE and the Spanish Graduate Student Association) will hold our Fifth Installment of the Hispanic Writers in the United States series face-to-face for the first time in two years! On this occasion, Dr. Elguera and Dr. Brescia will be reading fiction and talking about the 鈥渁esthetics of displacement in the United States鈥.

Bridging the Gap: Research and Writing Strategies for Multilingual Scholars
International and other multilingual scholars may encounter unique challenges in the academic writing process, especially when it comes to publishing empirical research. In this workshop, attendees will be guided through key strategies for navigating these challenges, including developing an awareness of reader expectations, drawing on available resources and networks, and editing for grammatical clarity. By the end of this workshop, attendees will have learned about and practiced valuable skills for writing and revising research articles.

Charting Uncharted Territory- Affect and Effect
Dr. Blitvich will be delivering the inaugural presentations of our annual 鈥淏ehind the Screen鈥 speaker series, sponsored by the Digital Discourse, Media & Writing Lab in WLE. In her talk, "Charting uncharted territory 鈥 Affect and effect," Blitvich will discuss her ground-breaking work which examines the role of language in online cancel culture. Blitvich will share how she navigated methodological challenges and how her research on this topic has changed her own thinking about online aggression.

Cine Foro "Tambi茅n la lluvia"- Movie and discussion. Christian Elguera from St. Mary's University/Pablo Brescia from USF/Heike Scharm from USF

On the day that appears in the calendar alternatively as 鈥淐olumbus Day鈥 and "Indigenous Peoples鈥 Day鈥 , we will watch a movie about representation of the conquest and of indigenous people in Latin American cinema.

A film that has been described by Mick Lasalle (San Francisco Chronicle) as an "irresistible thing - a movie about the making of a movie - combined with a bit of a history and a political message."

Translation Workshop with Daniele Pantano
Daniele Pantano will be conducting a Workshop on Translation for the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息Department of World Languages. Pantano, who is a Reader (Associate Professor) and Leader of Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln in the UK is a prolific poet, critic, artist, and translator. Students, Faculty, and Staff are invited to attend. Part of his presentation will involve interactive activity that should be both instructive and stimulating.daniel pantano
