Muma College of Business Awards $300,000 in Scholarships
About 120 students receive financial aid from donors
TAMPA – The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Muma College of Business will present almost $300,000 in scholarships to 120 students at the 2009 Scholarship Awards Luncheon to be held on Sept. 11 at the Muma College of Business Atrium. Scholarship recipients will meet the donors of these scholarships at the 11:45 a.m. ceremony.
Business sophomore Justin Chan, who lost his sight when he was eight years old as a result of leukemia treatments, will speak at the luncheon, along with Jessica Antiquino, an honor student and newly minted business graduate who received need-based scholarships and graduated debt-free this past May.
The luncheon, a 20-plus year tradition, is a much-valued opportunity for donors to meet the students who are benefitting from their generosity. Robert Forsythe, dean of the Muma College of Business, said the event affords the college the chance to publicly thank these donors for their continued support in helping students achieve their educational goals.
"Donors, alumni and corporate partners will be able to see the faces of the next generation of business leaders, many of whom depend on the scholarships to help pave the way to their success," Forsythe said. "The students, in turn, spend time getting to know the people whose kind donations made their scholarships possible. The Muma College of Business is proud to provide these scholarships every year to help students pursue their education in this field. The funds will provide significant financial support to the recipients."
