аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢Muma College of Business Maintains AACSB Accreditation
Tampa, FL (March 28, 2013) — The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Muma College of Business and Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy were recognized for excellence this week when the Board of Directors of AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – reaffirmed their accreditation, a move that keeps the university on a list of just 178 institutions worldwide certified for quality in both overall business and accounting programs.
Less than five percent of the world's business schools -- 672 business schools in 44 countries and territories -- are accredited by this international organization, which evaluates programs based on a wide range of quality standards relating to strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students in the educational process, and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
"To be on the elite list of schools dually accredited in business and accounting affirms the excellence of our programs, faculty, and students," said Moez Limayem, dean of the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢Muma College of Business. "We are excited to have such a solid foundation that will allow us to grow and continue to excel as a college."
To achieve accreditation, peer reviewers ensure that all programs meet quality standards relating to strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, and student success in terms of achievement of learning goals. Comprised of business school deans and accounting educators, evaluators who are well-versed in business, higher education, and management education, the peer review team visited аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢and carefully reviewed the business and accounting programs. The team also met with focus groups comprised of students, faculty, and alumni of the university.
"It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students."
