Alison A. Salloum, PhD, LCSW

 

Alison Salloum, Ph.D., LCSW is a Professor in the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢School of Social Work. She received her MSW (‘94) and Ph.D. (‘05) from Tulane University School of Social Work.

Dr. Salloum's primary research interest is in the treatment of childhood trauma. She is specifically interested in examining psychosocial interventions for young children, children, adolescents, and their families, who have been exposed to various types of traumatic events such as violence, disasters, and death. Dr. Salloum is the author of Grief and Trauma in Children: An Evidence-Based Treatment Manual, Group Work with Adolescents after Violent Death: A Manual for Practitioners and Reactions: A Workbook for Children Experiencing Grief and Trauma. She developed and investigated a grief and trauma intervention (GTI) for children experiencing trauma and loss that is listed on the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare and was listed as an evidence-based practice on SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices. Dr. Salloum has extensive experience working in community-based agencies and non-profit organizations.

Dr. Salloum is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and Louisiana. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Society for Social Work Research, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the American Association for the Advance of Science.  Dr. Salloum was selected as an NIMH-funded Child Intervention & Prevention Services Fellow and was a previous recipient of a аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢Faculty Outstanding Research Achievement award. Dr. Salloum is a national trainer for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and was funded by NIMH to develop and test a stepped care TF-CBT intervention for children after trauma. Research Interests:

New service delivery methods to address barriers to treatment access and participation for children and their families, childhood trauma, loss, and comorbidity, trauma-informed care, child welfare, and implementation of trauma-related evidence-based practices in diverse settings.
