College of Education faculty member selected for 2017 ACPA Advocate Award
Tonisha Lane, Ph.D., was selected by the American College Personnel Association – College Student Educators International Coalition & Networks as the recipient of a 2017 ACPA Advocate Award.
(Tampa, Fla. Jan. 24, 2017) — аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ (USF) professor Tonisha Lane, Ph.D., was selected by the American College Personnel Association – College Student Educators International Coalition & Networks (ACPA) as the recipient of a 2017 ACPA Advocate Award. This award is presented to individuals to recognize sustained and lengthy excellence in service and advocacy.
The ACPA Advocate Awards were created as the first and only award to be presented by all six of the ACPA Coalitions as a collective to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a significant commitment to social justice through either their involvement in the coalition and network activities or in representing and advancing coalition and network values and concerns.
Tonisha B. Lane, Ph.D, is an assistant professor in the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢College of Education's College Student Affairs program. She has more than eight years of higher education and student affairs experience in areas including residential life, STEM programs, TRIO programs, academic advising, academic affairs in a research university and community college, retention initiatives, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and a recent consultancy with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education.

"As educators, to be recognized for our work as advocates speaks to the core philosophy of our work and the vital mentoring and coaching we do as scholars and teachers."
Dr. Lane will be recognized and presented with an Advocacy Award pin at the ACPA's Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio on March 27.
