ESOL Professor publishes encyclopedia of English language teaching
TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2018) - College of Education professor John Liontas, PhD, has published an eight volume encyclopedia that focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of English language instruction.
The "," a publication created through Liontas鈥 work with the , explores the theoretical and practical aspects of English language instruction by providing an essential, go-to reference resource for educators, professionals, researchers, and students world-wide. The Encyclopedia contains more than 750 entries written by leading practitioners and scholars from around the globe.
As editor of the Encyclopedia, Liontas said the creation of the collection took place over the course of six years, and it is the first ever such publication for the TESOL International Association since its founding in 1966. The hope for publishing this reference, Liontas said, is for it to serve a 鈥済o-to reference resource鈥 for English language teaching professionals everywhere.
鈥淭he TESOL Encyclopedia of English Language Teaching addresses the needs of an interdisciplinary, worldwide audience of scholars, professionals, and graduate students at all levels,鈥 Liontas said. 鈥淢y hope remains that all those needing scholarly, authoritative information about the field of English language teaching will find in the encyclopedia鈥檚 collective framework of eight volumes, fourteen themes, and 5,824 pages, a balanced diet of theory and research-based perspectives on significant topics of scholarly inquiry that can apprise and enrich discussion of the most pressing issues in the field for decades to come.鈥
Dr. Liontas is an associate professor of ESOL and director and doctoral faculty of TESLA (Technology in Education and Second Language Acquisition) in the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息College of Education. He holds a doctorate in second language acquisition and teaching and is a distinguished thought leader, author, and practitioner in the fields of applied linguistics and second language acquisition. Dr. Liontas is also the recipient of more than two dozen local, state, regional, national and international teaching awards and honors.
