Alumnus receives research award from AERA special interest group
TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2019) 鈥 College of Education graduate Travis Marn, M.Ed `12 & PhD `18, was selected to receive the 2019 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Educational Research Association鈥檚 (AERA) .
Marn, who received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Psychology, was recognized for his dissertation, titled 鈥淧erforming the Black-White Biracial Identity: The Material, Discursive, and Psychological Components of Subject Formation.鈥 His scholarship focuses on questions of identity, materiality, discourse and qualitative research methodology in educational and psychological research.
Marn currently serves as an assistant professor of child development and educational psychology at Southern Connecticut State University, where he instructs students in child development, educational psychology, research methods and methodologies鈥攁ll with a grounding in social justice and multiculturalism.
