Professor receives Lifetime Achievement Award from AERA International Studies Special Interest Group
TAMPA, Fla. (March 9, 2020) — College of Education Professor Johanna Lasonen, PhD, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) International Studies Special Interest Group (SIG).
The AERA International Studies SIG provides a forum for the exchange of information among educators involved in research, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of international studies. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to individuals who have consistently demonstrated outstanding participation with AERA’s International Studies and to acknowledge the SIG’s gratitude for the recipient’s years of dedication.
Dr. Lasonen is a professor of Career, Workforce, and Technical Education at USF. Her research focuses on the comparisons of education systems in different countries, immigrant integration into the workplace with a special emphasis on equity and access issues, efficiency of learning environments and work-based learning.
Prior to joining USF, Dr. Johanna Lasonen worked as a UNESCO professor of intercultural education in workforce in Finland. She worked for more than 10 years as a K-12 teacher and technical teacher educator and for more than 30 years in higher education.
