Compliance, Risk, and Anti-Money Laundering

Description

This certificate program is targeted to meet the needs of students seeking a career in the growing field of business risk assessment, compliance, and anti-money laundering. The four courses in the certificate program will provide students with a strong foundation in risk identification, assessment and management techniques. The program also focuses on providing students with knowledge regarding compliance with various rules, laws, and regulations affecting businesses. The forensic accounting course in the program specifically focuses on fraud prevention, detection, and investigation, including the litigation aspect of fraud. The information technology control and audit course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to add value to organizations as an auditor of IT-intensive accounting systems. The statistical data mining course will equip students with the skills necessary to apply advanced statistical techniques to "mine" data to glean actionable insights relating to meet anti-money laundering objectives.

Completion of this graduate certificate program will help prepare students to take the exam for the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢students qualify for a discounted price of $1,000 for the exam and two years of membership (regular price $1,890).

Course Location/Delivery

All courses are offered on the Tampa campus or fully online.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in any business discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution or equivalent internationally recognized body (e.g., EQUUS), or a student admitted into any graduate program in the College of Business or cyber-security.

Prerequisites

Applicants who have not taken an undergraduate or graduate course in financial accounting and business law must pass a 30 question proficiency exam covering topics in accounting and business law administered by the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, and have completed an undergraduate or graduate course in statistics from a regionally accredited institution.

Requirements

12 hours are required.

  • BUL 5842 â€“ Risk management and legal compliance – Offered Summer, Fall and Spring semesters (3 credits)
  • ACG 6688 Forensic Accounting & Legal Issues – Offered Fall semester (3 credits)
  • ACG 6457 – Accounting systems audit, control and security  â€“ Offered Spring semester (3 credits)
  • ISM 6137 – Statistical data mining – Offered Summer and Spring semesters (3 credits)

Electives

None are required.

Time Limit for Completion of Certificate

Per University Policy, all Certificates have a five year time limit.

Credit toward Graduate Degree

Up to 12 hours of certificate course credits may be applied to a graduate degree with departmental approval

Standardized Tests

International students must submit a TOEFL score when English is not the native language. A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or 79 on the web-based test is required.
