AD and Biogas Awards

Solar Cities Solutions, Co-Founded by Dr. T.H. Culhane, Was Nominated For Three Categories in the 2023 Ad and Biogas Industry Awards

TH Culhane

Solar CITIES Solutions, an organization founded by PCGS Climate Director, Dr. T.H. Culhane, focused on promoting sustainable solutions through biogas, has been nominated for three categories in the 2023 AD and Biogas Industry Awards, organized by the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association and the World Biogas Association.

Solar CITIES is a charitable educational non-profit that seeks to share small-scale biogas education in ever increasing locations around the world. The organization has been helping communities move away from reliance on non-renewable energy sources and create their own fuel and fertilizer with available clean resources. This year, Solar CITIES has been shortlisted for the "Education Campaign of the Year" category.  The nomination celebrates field work done by PCGS alumni Li Zhu (China), Rarosue Amaraibi (Nigeria), Isabel Galeano (Tanzania), Angela Fayez (Palestine), Jerry Comellas (Cameroon and Uganda) and Enas Culhane (Palestine).

The organization's co-founders, along with one of its members, have also been named as finalists for separate categories. Janice Kelsey, Solar CITIES’ co-founder, has been named as a finalist for the "Women in Biogas" category. Furthermore, the organization's work in the biogas sector has earned T.H. Culhane, the CEO and co-founder, a spot as a finalist for "AD Hero of the Year."

The awards ceremony will be held at the AD & Biogas Summit, a two-day event in Birmingham, England on March 27th and 28th, which will bring together experts from the global biogas industry. This presents an excellent opportunity for Dr. Culhane and Solar CITIES to network with potential corporate funders and industry leaders to create job opportunities for more PCGS graduates. Solar CITIES' work is focused on promoting the use of biogas as a sustainable energy source, with ongoing programs in Jordan, Palestine, and Tanzania. The organization is also working this summer on training programs in France, Moldova, and Poland to help refugees from the wars in Ukraine and Syria.  Solar CITIES' recognition in multiple categories at the AD and Biogas Industry Awards highlights the organization's commitment to promoting sustainability and the use of biogas as a renewable energy source.
