Sustainability

Sustainability refers to the capacity to meet the social, economic, and environmental needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The 新澳门六合彩内幕信息Grounds department supports the Sustainability program at 新澳门六合彩内幕信息by re-planting areas with more drought resilient plants, installing native species, or removing turf to create green space that requires less water.

Currently, our department is researching 鈥淪mart鈥 irrigation controllers.  Smart controllers are a new generation of irrigation controllers that utilize prevailing weather conditions, current and historic evapotranspiration, soil moisture levels, and other relevant factors to adapt water applications to meet the actual needs of the plants.

Past Projects

Patel Center for Global Solutions

Both entrance areas were replaced with new shrubbery, additional green space was added around walkways towards the building, new shrubs were added around the building exterior, and the roundabout replaced grass with ivy. These efforts aid in reducing water consumption needs for landscaping in the area.
