Professional & Technical Communication
MISSION:
Hosted by the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences, the mission of аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢Professional and Technical Communication (PTC) Service Course Program is to prepare students for the writing and communication tasks they will encounter in every stage of their lives and careers. Courses are designed using problem-based scenarios that encourage students to consider complex and nuanced communication situations and to apply their understanding of writing and rhetoric to solve these problems. Based on state-of-the-art research and disciplinary effective practices, our programmatic perspective is to prepare who can solve problems and effect change in their organizations and in society.
VISION:
аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢PTC aspires to maintain its national recognition as a center of instructional excellence. We aim to create a collegial and transparent learning environment in which our curricular innovations—especially our use of empirical research in writing analytics and student and instructor perspectives—inform curricular design and advance opportunity for students’ advancement of their writing and communication skills.
