Academic Programs
Overview
The Institute for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean (ISLAC) encourages
and facilitates interdisciplinary inquiry in understanding Latin America, the Caribbean
and Latino/a/x issues in the US. The Tampa Bay Area鈥檚 unique historical, cultural,
geographic, and economic relationships with Latin America and the Caribbean and with
Latino/a/x populations make ISLAC essential to USF鈥檚 visibility and relevance locally
and globally. Faculty and students are drawn from social sciences, natural sciences,
humanities, arts, and human service fields, including Engineering, Business, Public
Health, Mental Health, and Education, and from all campuses.
ISLAC is a uniquely placed unit of the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息academic community. On the one hand, it is a hub of research, knowledge, and service, and, on the other, it offers academic programs such as a Master degree (MALACS Master in Latin America, Caribbean and Latino Studies), a graduate certificate, and an undergraduate certificate. Furthermore, ISLAC embraces diversity among its staff, students, faculty and the larger community through its scholarly practice, outreach initiatives including the organization of events and invited speakers, and in actively educating the university community about anti-racism through its teaching, research and service.
