Collaborating Partners
Moffitt Cancer Center
The partnering agreement between аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢and the brings together experts whose aim is to advance the field of cancer research and drug discovery.
The College of Arts & Science (CAS) contributes to and strengthens these collaborative initiatives by conducting innovative, interdisciplinary research and scholarship, advancing knowledge in ways that prepare us to address complex social and scientific problems and enhance the quality of life for people and communities.
The CAS collaboration with the Moffitt Cancer Center is evidenced in the following ways:
- Chemistry Department's Drug Discovery & Medicinal Chemistry and external graduate affiliate faculty with the Moffitt Cancer Center
- Cell Biology, MIcrobiology, Molecular Biology (CMMB): H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center
& Research Institute collaboration with the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ to sponsor
the . The Four Majors include the following:
- Cancer Biology – The focus of the Cancer Biology major is understanding the molecular, cellular and microenvironmental mechanisms that drive cancer development and progression, heterogeneity, metastasis and therapy resistance.
- Cancer Chemical Biology – The study of this major focuses on both chemistry and biology. Cancer drug design and discovery is the key component of the curriculum.
- Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy – This major focuses on basic and translational research in the immunobiology of cancer and developing the next generation of immunotherapeutic interventions for cancer patients.
- Integrated Mathematical Oncology – This major consists of specialized training in mathematical modeling for cancer biology and clinical oncology problems. Students also receive training in the broader field of cancer biology and immunology through coursework and immersion in Moffitt’s research endeavors.
- The Center for Drug Discovery & Innovation (CDDI) focus on the discovery of drugs that advance to clinical use.
