Mission & Objectives
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 is to provide a quality undergraduate and graduate education for students entering the mechanical engineering profession or seeking careers in related fields; to advance scientific knowledge through basic and applied research; to disseminate technical information through scholarly publication, conferences and continuing education; to advance the profession through service within the associated societies, and to promote activities which serve global development.
UNDERGRADUATE ABET PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Our Graduates, within a few years after graduation, will successfully:
- Apply mechanical engineering knowledge and skills to address the needs of society and organizations.
- Pursue continued career development that may include postgraduate study in engineering or other fields.
- Seek leadership positions, communicate effectively, participate in multidisciplinary collaborations and promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility in their careers.
UNDERGRADUATE ABET STUDENT OUTCOMES
The curriculum must require students to apply principles of engineering, basic science, and mathematics (including multivariate calculus and differential equations); to model, analyze, design, and realize physical systems, components or processes; and prepare students to work professionally in either thermal or mechanical systems while requiring topics in each area. Students should graduate with:
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
